100 Questions

These listening activities are based on the 100 questions used to practice for the INS interview. Your students will need to answer 10 of these questions to pass the Additional Assessment. The questions have been divided into 5 groups by topic. For each group of questions, you’ll find:

1) a handout and audio with all of the questions and answers for that section.
2) a multiple-choice handout and audio with most of the questions (different order)
3) a handout with only the questions

You can choose to focus on one or two groups in depth, or you can cover a broad spectrum. The first set of questions is recommended for Beginning Low. These materials provide intensive practice for the test and are to be used after you have covered your US History and Government curriculum.

Some suggestions for use:

-Pass out the questions-only handout & see how many your students already know.
-Have students research the answers to the questions on the Internet -- most can be found at the K-12 site http://bensguide.gpo.gov . The graphics are childish, but the explanations are clear. (You can choose the grade level that best suits your students.)
-Assign different questions to different groups, have each group research the answers (they could Google them or refer to site mentioned above)
-Have students practice asking each other the questions
-Put Qs and As on different cards & have students look for their “partner” or do a card-exchange activity.
